Cook & Butcher is a family owned, traditional butcher located in Thatcham.
Peter has been in the trade since the age of 14 years, starting as an apprentice, and developing a passion for quality food.
The traditional method to butchery is clear to see with preparation areas on display in the shop. Allowing the butcher to supply a cut of meat to the customers liking or through his knowledge make a recommendation for an alternative.
Cook & Butcher pride themselves in sourcing local, and the welfare/quality of the animal comes before anything else. They currently source all their beef from Broad View Farm at Cold Ash, along with rare breed Berkshire Pork.
In addition to this they source lamb from Compton and poultry from Headley. They buy in the whole carcass, which is dry hung, to which they do not add any chemicals or preservatives.
Their modern shop also contains a cheese counter, vegetable section and other great produce. If you cannot visit the shop then they have an online store where in addition to meats and cheese’s you will find cured meats, pies, gluten free sausages & burgers and much more.
